The Origin of Chevy Takes The Mic

I started blogging for two reasons:
a) I felt like I wasn’t doing anything with my life
b) I wanted people to “hear” my voice.

I wanted to have something to my name that wasn’t linked to school work. In a sense I felt that my educational accomplishments were more for my parents than me and I wanted something for myself. So if anyone asked I could easily say that “I’m a Lifestyle Blogger at Chevy Takes The Mic”.
Secondly, as I mentioned on my About page, people used to tell me that I talked too much and somewhat limited myself by  keeping my opinions to myself and listening to others. Now I’m just at the point where I’m going to make myself be heard regardless of what others think. So I started my blog in October 2018 and I’ve been writing posts ever since.

Advice to New Bloggers

  • Enjoy what you write; writing is an extension of you - your beliefs, your experiences and your likes - so make sure you’re writing content that you love and you enjoy. Don’t change your style by trying to keep up with trends or what’s other bloggers are succeeding with. Because the moment you stop writing for you is when writing gets harder and you lose your true readers.
  • Don’t compare your blog to others; seeing the accomplishments of other bloggers and comparing your blog to theirs will only make you feel discouraged. Trust me - I struggle with this everyday. There is always going to be someone with more views, more followers and even a better looking blog theme. Focusing on that will not help to make your blog any better. You need to remind yourself that everyone has their own pace and hard work is what will get you there.
